Gaumukh Trek Standard Tour Package

Gaumukh Trek leads to the snout of the Gangotri Glacier, the origin of the Bhagirathi River, which is one of the primary headstreams of the Ganges. Nestled at an altitude of 4,023 meters in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, it is among the largest glaciers in the Himalayas.

The trek spans 18 kilometers, starting from Gangotri, a small town situated along the banks of the Bhagirathi River. According to legend, this is where Goddess Ganga descended to Earth when Lord Shiva released the mighty river from his matted locks.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Haridwar/Rishikesh – Gangotri/Dharali (250 km | 12-13 hrs)

Welcome to Uttarakhand!

Pickup from Haridwar and drive to Barkot via Dehradun and Mussoorie. Continue the journey to Gangotri/Dharali and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 : Gangotri/Dharali – Chirbasa (9 km trek)

After an early breakfast, visit the sacred Gangotri Temple. Take a dip in the Bhagirathi River and seek blessings at the temple before beginning the trek. The trail starts with a steep ascent, followed by a gradual incline. Reach the Chirbasa campsite, offering breathtaking views of the Bhagirathi peaks through dense pine forests. Enjoy an acclimatization walk in the evening, followed by dinner at the campsite.

Day 3 : Chirbasa – Bhojbasa (7 km trek)

Start the day with breakfast at Chirbasa before trekking towards Bhojbasa. Arrive by the afternoon and spend time acclimatizing. Enjoy dinner and rest at the campsite.

Day 4 : Bhojbasa – Tapovan (6 km trek)

Today’s trek is more challenging. Head towards Gaumukh to witness the origin of the Bhagirathi River, one of India’s largest rivers. Continue trekking up to Tapovan, where majestic peaks like Shivling and Bhagirathi stand within arm’s reach. Overnight stay in camps at Tapovan.

Day 5 : Tapovan – Bhojbasa (6 km trek)

After a refreshing morning in Tapovan, trek back down to Bhojbasa. Enjoy a packed lunch along the way and relax at the Bhojbasa campsite.

Day 6 : Bhojbasa – Gangotri (14 km trek)

Trek downhill from Bhojbasa to Gangotri. Relish a packed lunch during the journey. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and unwind for the night.

Day 7 : Gangotri – Haridwar/Rishikesh

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back to Haridwar/Rishikesh. Arrive by 7-8 PM, marking the end of an unforgettable trekking adventure with lifelong memories.
